Meet the Team

Eduardo Vargas, LCSW-S

Founder

Hi, I'm Eduardo Vargas (he/him). I was born and raised in Colombia, and that upbringing shaped who I am just as much as my years of formal education here in the U.S. did. I'm bilingual in Spanish and English, and I see clients in both languages, drawing on years of experience in medical settings working alongside interpreters too. I hold a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago with a Mental Health concentration, and I'm licensed as an LCSW in both Texas and Illinois. But more than my credentials, I bring a genuinely open, non-judgmental lens to every person I work with — I don't come to the table with a particular viewpoint or agenda, just a deep respect for the common thread of the human experience, no matter someone's background, beliefs, or identity.

Over the years, I've built a career around being a true generalist — someone who can meet people wherever they are. I specialize in co-morbid conditions, whether that's the overlap of mental health and substance use, or mental health and medical complexities like neurocognitive decline and other age-related conditions. I'm also deeply versed in the practical side of care: community resources, case management, advance directives, and public benefits, because healing isn't just about therapy, it's about the whole picture. Whether I'm supervising the next generation of clinicians, leading a team of mental health providers, or sitting across from a client in session, my goal is the same — to bring skill, heart, and a little bit of fun to the work of helping people thrive.

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with more than 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across educational, medical, behavioral health, and healthcare settings. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that helps clients build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and my Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Before becoming a social worker, I proudly served on active duty in the United States Air Force. I later worked as an English Language Arts teacher, Reading Interventionist, and 504 Coordinator, experiences that strengthened my passion for advocacy and individualized support.

My clinical background includes inpatient psychiatry, outpatient behavioral health, medical social work, school social work, and case management. I’ve worked with children and adolescents experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, dyslexia, eating disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Conduct Disorder. I also have experience supporting adults living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, substance use disorders, and other complex mental health conditions.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and play therapy techniques to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, empowered, and equipped with practical tools for lasting growth.
